The purpose of this breakout session will be to describe how communities can leverage this new fiber optic infrastructure to build last mile networks that achieve the desired economic development goals. The panel will share their experiences in the publicly-financed broadband investment space to discuss broadband concepts, the fundamentals of network design, common infrastructural obstacles, cost considerations, economic benefits, and potential operating benefits of the next stage of public broadband investment.
